These guys have spent their whole existance siding on the most numberous side in like every major war they fought.
The only victories they achieved alone were against savage tribes armed with sticks in order to build their famous "empire".

By the time the 1066 French colonization and enligthment of England occured, these guys had been French for over two centuries.
It's like if in 2100, someone claimed that the Americans who descend from Irish families that moved there in the early 1900's were still Irish rather than Americans.....
